“We Will Not Be Silenced” by Rachel Gonzales

5”x7” mixed media on paper was created in response to voter suppression and the countless number of Black lives lost under white supremacy and existing power structures in the US.

Rachel Gonzales is a figurative and abstract contemporary visual artist educated and experienced in both architecture and fine art. Informed by her architectural background in designing physical spaces, her paintings also serve as containers or portals for the human experience to be felt. Her life's work focuses on reclaiming the female gaze as powerful way to see beyond the form. She graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor’s in Architecture, is a member of Filipinx Artists of Houston, and currently practices out of her own studio at Sawyer Yards in Houston, Texas.
