FREE THE NYC3!
Malaya Movement USA calls for the immediate release of the NYC3 and condemns their unwarranted and violent arrest on September 23, 2022. The three individuals along with dozens of others, including members of the Malaya Movement USA, rightfully protested and took part in a civil disobedience action at the Asia Society in New York City where Marcos Jr. attended his final event during his nearly week-long stay in the U.S.
The activists and organizers who’ve been present at nearly every turn for Marcos Jr. 's unwelcomed stay in the U.S. have been uplifting the people’s history of the Philippines under the Marcos dictatorship and the dangers posed by the rise to power of his son Marcos Jr.
The violent treatment of those participating in a peaceful demonstration inside the venue and those outside by private security and state forces must also be held accountable. We condemn the brutal nature in which queer, transwomen, and femme people of color were dragged and forcibly removed by private security and Philippine state forces. We condemn the Asia Society for extending an invite to Marcos Jr. and endangering the whole of the Filipino people by giving fascism a platform.
