Vice President Sara Duterte’s unhinged tirades shows she is unfit for office. Much like her tyrant father, she is undeserving of one of the highest seats of power in the Philippines. Malaya Movement USA echoes the people’s organizations in the Philippines calling for her impeachment. 

In a chaotic series of press conferences via Zoom, Duterte admitted to hiring an assassin to kill Pres. Marcos, the first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Romualdez should an attempt on her life happen. She blasted members of Congress for investigating the Office of the Vice President, including the disappearance of 125 million pesos within 11 days during her first few months in office. 

This all points to the 2025 midterm elections and the desire of both political dynasties to consolidate their control--the ruling Marcos clique is trying to isolate the Dutertes who are desperately clinging onto power. 

It is critical that both Sara and Rodrigo Duterte are held accountable for their crimes. It is equally as critical that Marcos Jr. should be held accountable for his crimes against the Filipino people. In his 2 years as president,  we’ve witnessed at least 105 extrajudicial killings, 75 frustrated extrajudicial killings, 15 enforced disappearances, 42,426 victims of forced evacuation, 63,379 victims of indiscriminate firing and 44,065 victims of bombings. 

We urge Malaya Movement USA members and the Filipino community at large to remain vigilant regarding the moves of Marcoses and the Dutertes. Impeach Sara! Duterte, Ikulong! Marcos Jr. singilin! Continue to expose and isolate them from Filipinos overseas and push to end United States support for their crimes against the Filipino people.
