Malaya Movement USA stands in full defense of our sovereign waters in the Philippines in light of the recent collision between Chinese and Philippine vessels in the Ayungin Shoal on October 21. We condemn China’s incursion and aggression in the West Philippine Sea, and denounce President Biden’s statement invoking the Mutual Defense Treaty(MDT) against China as a result of the incident. The U.S. military’s posturing in this increasingly volatile region puts the Philippines in a dangerous position.

As Filipino-Americans who have stood up against killings, brutal displacement, false imprisonment, and torture of everyday people fighting for land and rights by the Philippine government, Malaya Movement USA stands in solidarity with Palestinians who face the US-backed Israeli state’s 75-year long campaign to exterminate Palestinians. We stand in solidarity with those working towards a just and lasting peace in Palestine, which will only be achieved by solving the root cause of violence in the region: colonial occupation.

Malaya Movement USA extends our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Jude Fernandez. Fernandez was a decades-long advocate for workers rights, organized as a union leader during Marcos Sr.’s Martial Law. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this government sanctioned attack and call for an independent investigation regarding the incident.

The Philippines’ budget that passed in the House of Representatives flies in the face of Filipinos everywhere who carry the consequences of the country’s economic decline. It remains that Filipinos cannot count on this government for relief, but they can squarely expect corruption, pork barrel schemes, and the fascist crackdown on democratic dissent in the form of P10.1 billion “confidential” funds.

On the one year anniversary of the political killing of journalist Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa, the Malaya Movement USA continues to demand justice and accountability for Percy Lapid and his family. We send our deepest condolences and solidarity to his family and friends.

Malaya Movement USA denounces Marcos Jr.’s “revenge travel” overspending of nearly $1.5 million dollars in the past year. Poverty and unemployment/underemployment rates are worsening, yet the sitting President spends our people’s tax money as if it’s pocket change for his family’s personal use. It is insulting and disrespectful to the impoverished Filipino people who bear the brunt of this lavish spending.
