Malaya Movement USA Statement on the Election Partial Results

The Malaya Movement USA strongly rejects Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio. We condemn the widespread, deliberate and systematic effort to disenfranchise voters. We call on the people to resist the Marcos-Duterte tandem. Strengthen our unity and fight for genuine change!

In the past three weeks, we have received and documented countless cases of irregularities and voter disenfranchisement that our kababayan have experienced. More than two weeks delay in the casting of overseas absentee votes; more than twelve thousand ballots have been returned to sender; and many more irregularities.

The Malaya Movement USA stands with the thousands of our kababayans across the United States for the US-Wide Rally for Hope and Democracy alongside the hundreds of thousands of our kababayans in the Philippines who are coming together today in support of change. We stand for hope against the bleakness of the present. We stand for genuine democracy against dictatorship and the rule of the few.

Malaya Movement Endorses Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan

The past six years under Rodrigo Duterte has caused so much suffering and misery to the Filipino people. Human rights, democracy and sovereignty have been constantly attacked and drastically eroded.

This coming May 2022 Philippine General Elections, the heirs of two political dynasties, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte are running for the president and vice president. They are backed by some of the most corrupt politicians, political clans and parties in the Philippines.

The Malaya Movement USA joins the Filipino people in celebrating the 36th anniversary of the EDSA People Power uprising. The Malaya Movement USA looks at this historic event as a source of inspiration as we continue to fight to ensure the end of the tyrannical Duterte regime.

Jersey City—On the evening of Wednesday, December 15, Jersey City's Municipal Council unanimously passed the Resolution Protecting Jersey City Human Rights Defenders for the Philippines and Endorsing the Philippine Human Rights Act (Resolution 21-866). Jersey City is now the first city on the East Coast to have endorsed the Philippine Human Rights Act and the first in the country to extend protections for human rights defenders who may be targeted by the Philippine government.
